  • 00:03: hi everyone so in this video I'm going to show you how to crochet this little girl's dress so this dress can be made in a variety of sizes and for all the information on how to make the different sizes please see the description box below so thank you very much for watching and please make sure to subscribe to my channel for more crochet video your dress you want to begin by doing a slip knot so to do a slip knot you want to take your yarn and you want
  • 00:31: to take your finger and you want to wrap the yarn around your finger once and then twice then take the first loop and pull it over the second loop and then take the second loop and pull it all the way over your finger you then want to take your crochet hook go in through the space and pull tight and there you have a slip of what you have your slip knots you now want to make your foundation chain and for your foundation chain you want to chain 54 so we're going to chain
  • 01:02: one two three four five six all the way up to fifth I have just finished working my foundation chain and we are now ready to move on to round around one we're going to do a simple round of plain double crochet so we're going to do one double crochet into every single chain so we're going to work our very first double crochet into the fourth chain
  • 01:31: from the hook so here's the first chain from the hook the second and the third so here's the fourth so into this chain we're going to work our first double crochet so to do a double crochet you want to yarn over and go into the stitch into the fourth chain from the hook yarn over and pull up a loop yarn over and pull through two loops and then yarn over and pull through the final two loops on your hook so there we have one
  • 02:02: double crochet and you want to do that into every single chain along your foundation chain one double crochet into each chain so yarn over and go into the next chain pull up a loop pull through two loops and pull through two more and yarn over and go into the next stitch and do the exact same thing and just do this all the way along for round one so I have just finished
  • 02:32: working that all the way along for round one and at the end of this round you should have fifty two double crochets and that includes the chains that we skip at the beginning of the round so these three chains that we skipped when we worked into the fourth chain from the hook these clouds are first double crochet so we should have fifty two double crochets including the chains and we're now moving on to Round two getting round two you want to chain three and
  • 03:01: turn and this chain three counts as our first double crochet so now for round two we're simply going to do one double crochet into each stitch along so this round is just another round of plain double crochet so we have our chain three and this counts as our first double crochet for this stitch here so we're going to begin working into this one along so yarn over and go into the stitch the next stitch and work one
  • 03:31: double crochet then yarn over and go into the next stitch and work one double crochet and just do this all the way along for round two one double crochet into each stitch and at the end of this round you should have fifty two double crochets so just the same as round one and that includes the chains at the beginning the chain three that we worked at the beginning of round two counts as our very first double crochet that's why
  • 04:01: i've worked one double crochet into each stitch along and you need to make sure that you work your final double crochet into the top of the turning chain at the end of the round and after we have done that we are now ready to begin so now way to Round three and in this round we're going to begin increasing to create our shell stitch pattern so we've done round one and round two which up here and in round three we are going to begin increasing for our neckline as
  • 04:30: this dress has worked from the top down so what we're going to do is they're going to do two double crochets into one stitch but then one double crochet into the next then two into the next and one into the next all the way along so begin round three want to chain three and turn and this counts as our first double crochet so now we're going to work a second double crochet into this first stitch here so the chain 3 is the first
  • 05:01: double crochet for this first stitch so yarn over and go into the same stitch and work your second double crochet so there we have two double crochets into the first stitch so now into the second stitch you want to yarn over and work one double crochet and then into the next stitch work two double crochets like that and then into the next one work one
  • 05:32: double crochet and you want to do this all the way along to two to the boo crochets into one stitch but then one double crochet into the next so we are alternating between two double crochets and one double crochet so do that all the way along for round three just finished working that all the way along for round three and at the end of round three you should have worked one final double crochet into the top of
  • 06:01: the turning chain so into the top of the chain three that we worked at the beginning of round two you want to work one final double crochet into that as we move on to Round four we need to take our long strip which we have here and we need to join this using a slip stitch as the rest of our work is going to be joined we're going to have an opening at the top of the dress and if you look at the dress here which I made when I made up the pattern we have an opening at the
  • 06:31: top of the dress and then the rest of the dress is together it's not doesn't have a slip down the back you just have this little opening to make it easy to get on and off so before begin round four we need to join our strip using a slip stitch so what you want to do is you want to take your long strip which you have here and you want to take the other end and make sure you do not twist your work so take the other end here and you want to go to the chain
  • 07:00: 3 which is right on the edge so we have chain 1 2 & 3 so go to the chain 3 and go into the top of the chain 3 so the third chain so it's easier sort of if you turn your work you can see here's the first chain second chain and third chain so insert your hook into this chain into the third chain of the chain 3 and then take your work and work a slip stitch so sort of pull your work
  • 07:32: together and then pull through both loops on your hook and there you have joined your work and you need to make sure that it is not twisted and mine is not and we're now ready to begin round begin round 4 you want to chain 3 and 10 and this chain 3 counts as our first double crochet so chain 3 and term so now in round 4 what we're going to do is wherever we have 1 double crochet so one
  • 08:01: individual double crochet we're going to do one double crochet into that double crochet but then whenever we have the two double crochets we're going to go in between the two double crochets and we're going to work three double crochets so we're going to go one double crochet then three double crochets then into the next double crochet here you can see this is an individual double crochet we'll do one double crochet into
  • 08:31: this double crochet and then into the next two double crochets here we're going to get in between these and work three double crochets then one double crochets three double crochets one double crochet three double crochets all the way along so we have changed three and this counts as our first double shame so this chain three counts as the first double crochet for this stitch here so this is the last double crochet
  • 09:00: that we worked at the end of Round three so the chain three is the double crochet for this stitch so now I'm moving on to the next set of two double crochets that we did here in the second-to-last stitch from last round you're going to yarn over and go in between these double crochets so into the space in between them and work one double crochet then a second one and then a third one so three
  • 09:31: double crochets in between the two double crochets then we have a single double crochet here so yarn over and go into the top of that stitch and work one double crochet and then we have two double crochets here so yarn over and go in between the two stitches and work three double crochets in between those two so one two and three and now into
  • 10:01: the next stitch we have just one double crochet so we're going to do one double crochet into that one double crochet then we have two double crochets in between these two we're going to do three and you can see that these are the two double crochets that are worked into the same stitch so that's what we did last round when we did one double crochet two double crochets in between those two double crochets you want to do three so just continue to do one double
  • 10:31: crochet three double crochets one double crochet three double crochets all the way along for Round four
  • 11:00: so I'm just coming to the end of round four and I've worked one double crochet into this one double crochet here as I have two double crochets one and two left so I'm going to go in between those two double crochets and I'm going to work three double crochets just as I have done all the way throughout this round so there's two and then work a as long as you're around four we're going to finish off by doing a slip stitch and you want to do your slip stitch into the
  • 11:31: top of the chain three that we did at the beginning of the round so here we have the chain one two and three so going to the third chain the top of the chain three so go into the third chain and then yarn over and pull through both loops on your hook so there we have a slip stitch so you can see this is the top of your dress and we're going to keep increasing for a few more rounds so there we have round four completed and we're ready to begin
  • 12:00: riding around five you want to chain three and turn and this chain three counts as our first double crochet so round five is very similar to round four it's just slightly different so what we're going to do is we're going to do one double crochet into every single individual double crochet just like last round so into this double crochet and this one and this one and this one all of our individual double crochets we're just going to work one double crochet
  • 12:30: and then where we worked these three double crochets in between the two double crochets so you see we have the three and then the three there into the center of these sets of three so into the second double crochet we're going to work four double crochets so we're going to do one double crochet into every individual double crochet and then into the second double crochets the set of three we're going to do four double crochets then do one double crochet then
  • 13:02: four double crochets into the second of the set of three then one double crochet and four double crochets into this middle one here one-for-one for although we have change three and turned so this chain three counts our first double crochet for this stitch here so this is the double crochet for this stitch which is actually the chain three from last round so now we're going to move on to our
  • 13:31: first set of three and we're going to go to the middle one there's a third second and third go to the second one and insert your hook into the stitch and work one double crochet then go back into the exact same stitch the second one and work a second double crochet then into the same stitch and Berkey said and then back into the same stitch and work a four so there we have one double crochet four double crochets so
  • 14:00: now skip on forward to this individual one here the single one and do one double crochet into the top of that double crochet there and then we have the three and we're going to go to the middle of three the second one and work four double crochets all into the center double crochet the second double crochet out of the three the set of three so there we have four so now we're going to go to the individual one again and we're
  • 14:30: going to work one double crochet and then we're going to go to the next set and go to the second one and work for so keep doing this all the way along one four one four and work that all the way around for round so I've just finished working that all the way around for round five and you should have a big loop like this now and I've worked my final set of four double crochets and what we're going to do to finish off this round is we're going to work a slip
  • 15:00: stitch into the top of the chain three that we did at the beginning so I finished off by doing four double crochets so now we're going to go into the top of the third chain of the chain three so here's the chain one two and three so go into this top chain here and then work a slip stitch like that so there we have completed round five and we're now moving on to from the gain rounds six you want to chain three and turn and this counts as our first double crochet
  • 15:32: and round six is very similar to the previous few rounds what we're going to do is we're going to do one double crochet into every individual double crochet just as we have been doing and then we are going to work a set of stitches in between the middle of these four so we're going to do a double crochets every individual double crochet and then we're going to work five double crochets in between the set of four so
  • 16:01: right in the middle so here we did four double crochet one double crochet four double crochet one double crochet so in this round we're going to do five double crochet 1 double crochet 5 double crochet one double crochet and we're going to work the five double crochets in between the second and third double crochet of the set of four so right in the middle of the set of four and we're going to work five double crochets so we have chained three and this counts as
  • 16:31: Arthur's double crochet our first individual double crochet so we're going to move on to the set of four and we're going to go in between the second and third so right in the middle so yarn over and go in between these stitches into the space in between and work five double crochets so there we have one then a second one then a third a fourth and finally a this so we have one and
  • 17:04: then five so now into the next individual double crochet we're going to go into the top of this stitch and work one double crochet and then we're going to move along to the next set of four and we're going to go in the middle so in between the second and third and we're going to work five double crochets and do this all the way along for round six one five one five one five so I'm
  • 17:32: just coming to the end of round six and they've worked that all the way around and to finish off this round you want to do stage into the top of the chain 3 so just as we have finished the last three rounds or the last few rounds go into the top of the chain 3 and work a slip stitch so we are now ready to begin round we are now on to round 7 and in this round we are going to be adding the shape to our dress so we are going to be turning the big circle which we have
  • 18:01: here into a dress shape so we're going to have a back to armholes and a front so to do that so to add the shape we're going to work along some stitches for the first half of the back of our dress then we're going to skip a number of stitches for the first armhole then we're going to work a number of stitches across for the front then we're going to skip another set of stitches or another number for the other armhole and then
  • 18:32: we're going to continue to work along for the rest of the bat since the Drowned self only want to chain 3 which I have done and turn and now in round 7 we're going to look at our work in the sets so one set is going to be one double crochet and then a sort of shell or where we did the five double crochets that is going to be one set so we have one set here and then we have one set here and one set here so we have one
  • 19:00: double crochet plus the set of five that is one set and in our big loop we have 26 sets so 26 sets of one double crochet and then a set of five we have 26 and that is what we are going to be working in when we work round seven so for the first part of the back of our dress we need to work four sets so we're going to work one two three and then four so four
  • 19:31: sets of one double crochet five one five one five one five so we've chained three and this counts as our first double crochet here for our first set so we're now going to go on to the group of five double crochets and you want to go to the middle one so the third double crochet and into this double crochet we're going to work five from now on with our dress we are not going to be increasing so we did two double crochets three four and
  • 20:02: five and the biggest group of gross crochets that we're going to do so these shells are going to be made of four five double crochet so just like last round so we've changed three and this counts as our first double crochet so now into the third double crochet of the group of five you want to do five double crochets so we have one and then five and that will make up one set so there's the second third fourth and then this like
  • 20:34: that all into the third double crochet so there we have one set and you want to do that four times so we have one two three and four so you should end on a shell or agree to like that so there we have four of these sets so we have double crochet 5 double crochets double crochet 5 double crochet 5 double crochet 5 we have 4 sets and this is
  • 21:01: going to be the first half of the back of our dress so now we're moving on to create the first armhole and to create the first armhole we need to skip a certain number of stitches so what we're going to do is we're going to skip five of these humps so we have 1 2 3 4 5 we're going to skip 5 of these so count 5 and skip 5 so here's my fifth one from
  • 21:32: the last one I worked into so here we have the double crochet the individual double crochet after that this hump and we're going to work one double crochet into this double crochet so skip 5 and then work one double crochet about this hump or that fifth set of five so I'm going to go into the single double crochet after that yarn over and work one double crochet into this double
  • 22:00: crochet so one double crochet and pull your work nice and tight together so that you have a tight double crochet so now we're moving on to the front of our dress we have created Arthur's armhole you can see here so we're moving on to the front of our dress and the front of our dress is eight humps long so we skipped five for the armhole and we're going to work eight humps for the front so we have one
  • 22:32: two three four five six seven and then eight so all the way up to here we're going to do double crochet 5 double crochets double crochet 5 double five spankings going to take first shell the first hump and I'm going to go to the third double crochet and work five double crochets into this stitch so there's one two three four and then five
  • 23:06: and then do this eight times in total for the front okay four like that so there we have our eight sets of one double crochet and then five double crochets so I've worked my final set of five double crochets and there we have the front completed so now what we're going to do is we're going to work our next armhole in the exact same way as we did the last one we're going to skip
  • 23:32: five sets so five of these humps so here we have one two three four and then five so there we have five so we're going to go to the next single double crochet or individual double crochet after this fifth set of five and we're going to yarn over and go into that stitch pull your work together nice and tight and work one double crochet and there we
  • 24:00: will have our second armhole completed so there is that double crochet and you can always go back and check that you have skipped five and now to complete the rest of this and you just want to work our sets all the way to the end so you should have four more humps left sweep works Arthur's double crochets so now we're going to work five double crochets into the third double crochet of this set here then you want to work one five one
  • 24:31: five one five and there should be four in total and this will be the other half or the second half of the back here is where we started and we have the first half of the back so we're going to work the second half of the back so I'm going to go on to the next set here and I'm going to go into the third double crochet of my set of five and work five and then do this all the way Lynch working that all the way along for round seven and I worked my last set of five
  • 25:01: double crochets and to finish off this round we're going to do a slip stitch into the top of the chain three that we did at the beginning of the round and there we have completed round seven and we're ready to begin round three and I want to round eight and begin round eight you want to chain three and turn and round eight is very simple we're simply going to do 1 double crochet 5 double crochets 1 double crochet 5 double crochets all the way around so
  • 25:32: it's just like last round but we're not skipping any stitches this time so we're going to do one double crochet into every single individual double crochet and then five double crochets or a set of five double crochets into the third double crochet of the set of five from last round so 1 5 1 5 all the way around and it's important when you get to the armholes that you do not go up into the armholes that you just go straight
  • 26:01: across so go straight across all the way around do not go up and you will notice that these rounds are a lot shorter than the other rounds that we have had as we have cut out a lot of stitches when we worked the armholes so these rounds should go a lot faster so we have chain 3 which counts as Arthur's double crochet so I'm going to go to my next set of 5 and then going to go to the a double crochet and into this double crochet I'm going to work five double
  • 26:30: crochets and like I said we're not increasing any more we're sticking with five double crochets in each shell or each hunk so here we have five double crochets into the third double crochet so now we're going to go to the next individual one and work one double crochet into the top of this stitch and then do five into the next stitch into the third double crochet one two three go into this stitch and work five so
  • 27:03: just do this all the way along for round eight and remember do not go up into the armhole I have just finished working that all the way around for round eight and you can see when you get to the armholes you do not go up into the armholes you just work straight across so I have finished off by working my final set of five double crochets and then to finish off this round we're going to do a slip stitch to finish into the top of the chain three so once you have done that we have completed round
  • 27:31: eight and we can begin the round nine means we have completed up two rounds eight and this is what we have and from now on you simply want to repeat round eight again and again and again until you feel that your dress is long enough so if you see here here is my dress that I have already made I just repeated round eight again and again and again until it was long enough so you can do this for as many rounds as you like so
  • 28:00: if you just want to repeat it a few times you can make a short dress or a top or you could keep going for as long as you chain three and turn to begin each round and this counts our first double crochet then we're going to do five double crochets into the third double crochet then one double crochet into the individual double crochet 5 double crochets into the third double crochet one double crochet into the individual double crochet all the way around and finish off with a slip stitch
  • 28:30: and then do that again chain 3 in turn five one five one five one under a slip stitch then chain three in turn five one five one five one and keep doing that and remember to turn with each round and remember that your chain three always counts as your first double crochet so keep repeating round eight for as many rounds and I finished completing these rows and I work lots of rows down and then I finished off by working a final slip stitch and I
  • 29:01: fastened off and then I weaved all of my ends into the inside of my dress and I attached a button to the top so I attached a little heart button appeared to the top of my dress and I have finished so thank you very much for watching and please make sure to subscribe to my channel for more crochet videos
